Description
This superb paper mache toy bulldog dates from the nineteenth-century. It has a leather collar and glass eyes. The mechanism to make it bark is still functional and it has wheels under the feet – see video, sound on. This is a collector’s item. Originally these dogs were made for bourgeoise ladies to promenade along the corniche of the French Riviera with a companion that didn’t leave behind any mess to clean up! Decorative use recommended.
